I have total respect for you all. I feel a bit of a fraud compared to some as I only have 1 1/2 stone to lose but I'm really finding it hard. I'm trying to run after twelve hour day shifts and with the weather recently well... you know what I mean Don't give up...I find these post's really inspiring
Regards Mark

PS. I know it's a silly pic

Mark

It really doesn't matter how much you have to lose - its the fact that you aren't happy with how you are and want to change it that counts. You look completely mad - you ought to look at the AB Fab group cos I think you'd fit in just fine lol.

Good luck with your loss

Sam

Wow! What a lot of really motivated folk we are. Don't forget you can get loads of support from a great group -'Ab Fab' which currently has 60 members, which is amazing. The group was set up in response to this thread, which Jane started. We are all getting to know each other better on AB Fab and have a lot of laughs. We also support each other through the not so good days!

The last time I looked, we were on the second page of groups. We have a red logo! So come and join!

THe group is really helping me stay motivated, which is often the hardest thing when trying to lose weight over a long period. I have never known support like this - it's Absolutely Fabulous!

Hi, I've just joined and spotted this thread. I lost 5 stone around 10 years ago and looked and felt great, but since then it has all gone back on and then some (as it does). I really need to lose 6 or 7 stone, but being realistic I'm aiming for 5 and see how it goes from there.

I've got to lose 3 stone before 8th June when we are going to Eurodisney and I really want to go on all the rides without feeling like I'm going to die, or wondering if the safety harness is going to do up!

Anyway, I'm just going to find the groups and join Ab Fab

Any one else out there with 4stone or thereabouts to lose ?..,who wants some great support from like minded people? , people who are sometimes serious in discussing issues around food, emotions, and ways to improve fitness and health?...but also people who are sometimes just plain silly?!.and make you laugh ?..then come and join ab fab...!

Groups>2nd page> ab fab...

wish there was a way of making this post stick because there must be loads of other people out there with the same amount to lose and the same relationship and issues with food and health...?...after all this is the whole point isnt it for majority of people who find it hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle and eating habits when bombarded with advertising for unhealthy food.??..and the sugar pushers!!...which in some people create cravings for more sugar -laden food....the diet industry being the main culprits....i think it was rosemary conley et al....who misguidedly said...go for low fat food....but in doing so...the food producers..cut out fat and replaced it with sugar...which plays havoc with your blood sugars...to be discussed?!...

I think paul Mckenna has the right attitude to food by saying that you shouldnt ban any food but just be aware of what you have ,eat slowly and dont weigh yourself too often.

Is this the thread that you were talking about Sue? Is this where Abfab was conceived? Shame the photos don't stay the same - that would have been interesting to look back through!

Hi everyone, just joined today.

I wish I only had 4 stone to lose! To be my 'ideal weight' I have to lose 11 stone I wish I'd never got to this stage in the first place, but in the last three years both my grandads, dad and best friend have all died which made me completely depressed and I just comfort ate all the way through.
However, I've managed to cheer myself up a bit in recent months and suddenly decided I can't stand how I look any more and want to lose weight to fit into a really nice wedding dress as I'm getting married in (about) 2 years so that's keeping me really motivated for the moment, so I hope it continues!

I just want to say 'hello' and also good luck to everyone here. I look forward to chatting to you all in the future.

Hi Gemma what is it your studying, I'm originally from Southport but have since moved up to the Scottish borders after my husband came out of the RAF. Why don't you join the AbFab group as well, you'll find a lot of like minded people, who are a great chatty bunch who will keep you motivated.

As Jackie says, Gemma come and join Abfab (this thread inspired the formation of the group) and you won't be alone in wanting to lose more than 4 stone. You've made a positive step to join the THC and here ends your weight misery (well it's not going to be easy at times but it's great to have the support of like minded people).

Here's to less of you and hearing a lot more from you

Hi, I've just joined and have set myself an interim goal of losing 2 stone by christmas. Ideally I need to lose at least 5 stone. I had a baby 18 months ago and lost a bit of weight after his birth but scarily now weigh the same as I did in the immediate post-birth days. It must have been all the cake I ate whilst breastfeeding!

I've had 2 recent miscarriages and have decided to stop trying to get pregnant for a while and concentrate on getting fit and healthy before getting pregnant again.

I'm going to take it one day at a time, but it is great to find this health club. Hopefully I'll get to know you all better soon.

Hi Rebecca - you've had quite a lot to deal with recently. It's brilliant to have a goal to work towards and I don't think 2 stone by xmas is unrealistic. Always remember to be kind to yourself, there will be days when things don't go as well as you had hoped but there's terrific support here which can help you through these times. Come and join us at AbFab and share with us your experiences and together we can all reach our goals.

Welcome, congrats on being a mummy and good luck with your goal

Hi Rebecca - that's a very sensible goal to start with. A lot of us have been on here since January, and there's a fairly common consensus that small achievable goals are the way to go.

You might want to set some mini goals - for the next week or month, just to change one little thing at a time. We're just coming to the end of the Ab Fab Bath Challenge where some of us decided to drink a bathful of water during May. The average bath holds 80 litres, so that means trying to drink 3 litres a day (as recommended by The Times!).

On Ab Fab, you'll also find that we report our weekly weight loss (or gain!0 - there are a few different days that people weigh in so you might want to think about doing that with us too. Good luck!

Wow...thanks for the messages of support. I've joined you over at Ab Fab and am really looking forward to the challenges. I'm weighing in on a Monday and my goal for this week is to follow the 28 day diet and to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

Good luck Rebecca. Small steps ie upping water and walking and moving more whas how I stared and it does wonders for your confidence when you feel lighter and have more energy.

Having lost one stone I am aiming at the next and then the next. I know how hard it is to loose weight after babies. Take your time and make small changes as fiona says

I reckon Ive got about four stone to lose. Ive just put my head in the sand for a couple of years and pretended it didnt matter but Ive got two little girls and I dont want them being embarassed of me when they get older.

I started going kickboxing about two months ago and I love it. My health is definitely improving and I can do sit ups and push ups and things I never knew existed before! Its competitive enough for me to not get bored too.

My biggest problem is keeping going - I am busy - I work full time and commute an hour each way - Im doing a postgrad degree - and the kids. Plus, I like eating, especially everything I shouldnt.

Anyway good luck to everyone. Its nice to know I am not alone.

Well it's nice to see your head out of the sand Rhonda. Make time for the kickboxing Rhonda - if that's what floats you boat make a regular spot in your calendar for it. I made too many excuses while the kids were growing up instead of making the effort for some quality me-time. Come over to join us at AbFab you'll get plenty of support. You are DEFINITELY not alone.

Good luck with your new lifestyle

Ramanjeet - you'll fade away if you lose 4 stones!

I've just left a post on another thread for a newbie in a similar position. Have you tried writing down everything you eat? You'd probably be surprised at the size of portions you have, so that's something you could cut down straight away - I weigh things like pasta and rice and porridge, rather than just cooking what I think looks right.

Blimey are you sure you need to lose 4st, because you're starting at near my current weight and unless you're really little, that can't be too horrendous?

Anyway, welcome!
