swimming would come last behind, running, cycling and rowing

I saw that from the exercise log on this site. Personally I find 30 mins of swimming front crawl harder than cycling for 30 mins. As I have a flat seafront cycle path about 8 miles long I could cycle for a few hours quite happily and know I've burnt off some calories (as long as I'm in the right gear!).

Quoting: gilbertbain
doing 32 lengths which is half a mile

Well done on that Gordon. Try and up it to 40 lengths (1 km) or try and improve your time. Years ago it took me an hour to do 40 lengths but now I've got my time up to 25 mins if I'm 'on a roll'. You can do it!!

Careful with breast stroke, if you pull up to breath too hard too regularly you can really damage your neck. I heard front crawl is the best to do but I can never work out the breathing- any tips anyone??

Sorry to add to this late - our pool uses CO2 not chlorine in the pool so you may find it is better to find a pool that does this

I've never heard of a pool with CO2 in. That's the only downside of swimming so much, that I really do smell of chlorine!
