Now that they have been out for a while does anyone use their Wii for regular exercise or were they just another fad?

Yes, we use ours fairly regularly. (That is, our family of four adults). I try to follow the yoga exercises, which is an aspect I have never enjoyed before but find I can keep up on the Wii. I also do the Step, which I find definitely helps with some sense of timing that I need in doing proper Step. Our two adult children (and one partner) also use it regularly. The disadvantage of havong a number of regular users is, that at my age (51) I find it truly hard to beat the youngsters' scores and often languish at the bottom of the ratings tables.

The Balance Board adds another dimension, and can show some interesting insights. For instance, my (75 year old) mother tried it out and found that she had very good balance and excellent BMI - both of which were interesting but also a genuine boost to her confidence and an encouragement to her to keep up her active lifetstyle.

For my children, the Wii is their only form of exercise, but at least it keeps them active to some degree. I myself do a lot of other outdoor exercise but I do find the Wii supplements this, especially with the balance and posture.

I still love the Wii Im a tennis pro (haha) and am awaiting the fitness board. I dont know whether it can be classed as good exercise but its tiring and works some muscles plus its worth it when its chucking it down outside as it goes with the random british weather to have friends round for some Wii fun; SO much better than traditional consoles and can be more of a giggle than a film. I prefer walking, tennis and kickboxing but the rain generally affects all of these sports.. (my punch bag hangs up outside) Thank god its summer!
