I don't know if you've tried the Paul Mckenna cds and book but if you have was wondering if your hypnosis session was stonger than his cds? I mean was it longer lasting with you or did you feel that you needed to see the hypnotherapist more than once? Well done on losing 2 1/2 stone by the way that's really good going....

Reply by joanne jones

I had hypnosis for weight loss in November, and it has had a huge impact on me. It involved aversion therapy, healthy eating suggestion to my unconscious and image therapy. Like every one else, I know what I should be doing, but struggled to do it!. This seemed to help me get my head in the right place, and more importantly, despite only having 2 sessions, it has stayed there. I have lost 2 1/2 stone in total since then, and while I know the scientific evidence base is sketchy, i would recommend...

Reply by Teresa E

I did find the book helpful and did occasionally listen to the CD. I love being able to eat whatever I want, except diet foods! I need to give myself more time to listen to the CD as it really does me the world of good - at the least to switch off and relax at the end of the day.
Am far more aware of being full, and rarely 'stuff' myself anymore.
Am also very motivated to eat healthy foods and love the freedom of not writing everything down - am far leass obsessed by food these days....

Reply by Elizabeth-Anne Buonagura

Hi :

I find as a life long insomniac that the sleeping one makes me fall asleep quicker and stay asleep for about 4-5 hours ( I also suffer from sleep apnea and wear that awful CPAP mask over my face at nite ). Has not made me get 8 hours yet, but I do see improvement.
I was starting to see improvement with the weight loss on, but I do not listen to that every day as ...

Reply by looby lou

emm - do you not have a page? was trying to contact you direct, but you don't appear to exist!!

Reply by looby lou

it is very easy and very persuasive to make your own hypnotherapy tape.

basically work out what you want to say to yourself, encouraging etc and then speak slowly and clearly and make it even nicer by recording a piece of relaxation music at the same time.

you need to start by telling yourself to relax and make the words positive not negative. e.g i will do ........ rather than i won't do..........

sorry but to be truthful whatever we buy or whatever diet we go on it is all down to willpower.

you cannot be hypnotized against your will so although it can help to strengthen your resolve it will not stop you doing all the daft things we do.

anything that may help you is good though, so give it a try and let us all know how it goes.

good luck

Has anyone tried" You Can be Thin "by Marissa Peer? It has wonderful reviews on Amazon and seems to be in the same vein as McKenna. however i am a firm believer in - if it works for you then that is great, whatever it may be.

we are all different, but how about seeing if the library have this in to try before you buy??

self hypnosis can be very powerful and very easy to do - just a suggestion....

Reply by jackie morton

I have tried the book, and cd. When you're following it, it certainly feels very natural. I did come to know the cd so well though that after a while it sort of became white noise to me and I went off it. I think some of the basic principles have stayed with me though - I am more aware of when I'm full for example and the practise of that thought process came from the book and cd. Anyway, definitely worth trying....

Reply by wendy smith

I have to say that whenever I attempt to listen to one of Paul McK's CDs I can't get past his annoying voice with that overly put on slowed down gimmicky voice thing. Whilst I was at the venue and soon after, I bought into the whole thing but I now think the main beneficiary is Paul McKenna himself. There were a number of alternative therapists at the venue who were associates of Paul and they were all very keen to promote their particular interest. I am a bit of a sceptic and the whole thing made me feel like a gullible fool. I don't like the mystical aspect that Paul promotes.

Love the idea that nothing is banned from eating except DIET foods as he thinks it's better to have what you really want as long as you can honestly say you really want it ,then make sure you really enjoy eating it.

I like it as it is a change of lifestyle and re educating yourself to eating and habits rather than about dieting. Been there, done that and I resolve never to starve myself again or even deny myself of food that I rather enjoy. It's all about moderation and listening to your body rather than counting calories. ...

Reply by Jane V

I watched the TV programmes and have read the book.
