Susie
Good tip about the coffee will give it a try. Gosh you have a busy life!
I have 2 sons one at uni 18 and one 14 typical teenager. Sounds like you have got hang of it. I really didn't think I could run or jog but after a week it is getting easier and I go early in the morning so not too many people see me! I also walk but do not have a dog.

Hi Pippa and everyone,
I've had a busy weekend and have still been good. I was disappointed as I have only lost 2lbs this week. I have stuck to the diet and expected to do better. I went out to dinner at a friends house on Saturday and they all had Indian Takeaway, I had a tupperware dish of salad and sardines. I spent a lot of the evening polishing my halo! (I did have one glass of wine)
I will do a week on my own diet which is basically raw vegetables with small amounts of cheese and protein. I do have cooked veg sometimes made into soup. I love food! But I want to be slim even more.
Have you weighed yourself? How did you do?
Let me know.....

Susan
Try upping the water to 1.5 litres + it helps I think. I have had the odd glass of wine and am now running 20 mins most days! which I have not done since school! Oddly I have lost inches from my waist and boobs but don't feel thinner.

Good luck ...!

Dear Pippa,

I was up all night Sunday with Whisper, helping her to deliver 6 puppies (one died) and that has sent my diet haywire.(I think because I was sleep deprived) I have been very naughty and thrown the whole thing out of the window!!!!!!
I will start again on Monday...........I will try to try to minimise damage before then, good luck to you.
Best wishes

Hello, I have just started India's diet. I have a stone to lose. At the moment the headaches are a bit tough but they come and go. I am waiting for day six with baited breath!!

I have a question though, I know India and Neris don't recommend running, but I love it and as I have just got going in this department I am wondering what effect no carbs/sugar will have on my energy levels and whether it is sensible or possible to increase fitness on this diet. There is a six mile sponsored run I would like to do at the end of March and I am not sure if this diet will help in my progress!

The reason I decided to do it was because despite increasing my exercise program and being careful with my diet I haven't lost a bean since Christmas, so I felt a drastic change of tactic may be necessary.

Any advice or experience of exercise combined with this diet would be most helpful - thanks!

Hi Sue

The headaches will go after a couple of days just keep drinking losts of water
You should suddenly feel better and have more energy. I have been beginner running on it but only interval training ie 3 mins run 2 mins walk for the last 3 weeks and can now run for 20 mins. I would just make sure that you eat before your run. Drink loads of water every day ie 13 glasses as it really helps and cut alcohol out. I have been doing it for 6 weeks now and have ups and downs but as long as you follow the diet you should be ok. They recommend exercise so do what you feel is ok
If you eat any carbs then you will not loose weight as I have found so stick to it and you should get results
Good luck
Pippa

Thanks Pippa - I did a short run last night but on an empty stomach so had a stitch most of the way round. I felt better this morning though. I am on day four and am finding breakfast the hardest. I am a muesli addict and crave it in the morning. I was thinking as its a complex carb it might be OK - but I suppose if you don't do it properly there's no point!!

I used to find it easy to lose weight, but after two children it just won't shift!

Hi Sue
how about breakfast eggs or bacon, sausages work for me and keep you going. Why is it that it is hard to run on an empty stomach? It seems so much better when you have eaten something. I agree I have 2 teenagers and the weight is going slowly. Up your water if you are exercising as well.

This diet does seem to work well and I certainly have found it relatively easy to keep to, except for a couple of minor lapses -- I've been on it for 7 weeks now and lost over 1 stone. I haven't cut out milk, and I haven't had any of the supplements, and I feel perfectly heathy. Luckily I didn't get any of the headaches (but I always dranks decaf tea and coffee before, so perhaps that explains that), and I haven't had any constipation. It's major drawback, and one which only your best friends will tell you [because you really can't detect it yourself] is the bad breath you get, which no amount of mouthwash will stop. I gather this is caused by the chemical reaction of your body absorbing your own body fat when you are on a low carb diet, and the resultant compound goes into your blood and then comes out via your lungs and urine. This is one of the reasons why drinking lots and lots of water is so essential. I have tried various diets on and off for years, and this is the one diet that really seems to make a difference -- but the breath thing is really off putting.

Well done on your weight loss. I agree re the breath and found lots of water and brushing helped but you are more aware of it as an issue. I have taken a multi vitamin but no other supplements and only had headaches for one or two days but feel really good since then. I have been doing it for 7 weeks and have lost 9lbs despite a couple of lapses due to birthday etc. Do you take exercise?

Anyway best wishes

Sounds like we are both doing pretty well on this. I've hit the plateau for the last two weeks and am only losing a pound or so a week now. I assume if I did some exercise that would go up, but I haven't managed to fit that in except for the occasional walk at lunchtime. I have also introduced a bit of carb at breakfast time (low GI oats) so it is easier to fit in with the working day. I feel quite positive I can lose more (about a stone to go) -- and I would certainly go back with gusto to phase 1 if you didn't end up with that bad breath. Just started on week 8. It is certainly true that once you get the carbs and sugar spikes out of your system, you lose the craving to have them, and also, on the positive side, I think it really calms you down.
Hope you can keep it up too,
Best wishes,
JB

I agree! well done. I do think that if you eat carbs it messes you up hence the plateau and exercise helps to make you move forward and feel better. I agree that you feel calmer and I suppose more in control. I would up the water and see if that helps one of their rules

best wishes

Hello. I'm on the pig2twig road, and prefer it to all other "diets" I've ever tried. I have found this way of eating so powerfully slimming that I lost my first stone even without doing exercise, and have maintained the loss. I have a bit over a stone to go.

What I find really really helpful about it is all the support, good humour, fun and genuine kindness that is on the pig2twig forum. I've been popping in and sometimes making comments from the beginning and it is a blessing.

Since Friday night, however, I cannot access it at all and I miss it very much. Is anybody else having problems accessing the pig2twig forum (I know some of you are members)?

My pc says:

FORBIDDEN

you don't have permission to access/forums/on this server

Additionally, a 403 forbidden error was encountered while trying to use
an ErrorDocument to handle the request

Maybe some technical member knows what all this means?

I hope it's just a temporary glitch as the forum is continuous inspiration.

Best wishes to you all
Paola

I've been on India's diet for 3 weeks and lost 8lb... no stress, not hungry - werd not eating many fruit and veg but as i've another stone to shift I'm going to stick with it for now!

I've taken the vitamins and suplements but couldn't find psyllium when I went shopping and it doesn't seem to have made much difference.

After trying loads of low calorie diets which had very little impact on my weight, I'd say give this way of eating a try and see if it works for you! BUT read the book properly - my friend has had a few false starts cos she only read selected bits!
I'm very impressed that my mood swings and hunger pangs are gone...

thanks for your words, Pippa. You mean some kind of times technical forum?

Lisa: well done! Really pleased to read that it works so well for you too.

Sarah: am relieved that it's not just me, but feel very deprived: I NEED that lovely forum! Let's hope it's coming back soon. I regret not saving web addresses of the many members who have their own website so that I could contact them and see whether they have any info.... (Bye the way, I have a website too www.bringbackourjoy.com)

Looking forward to seeing the pig2twig forum back soon

I started the IPD on Sunday and my head is banging! Not hungry though. Bit upset about the Pig2Twig forum - glad it isn't just me. The message Forbidden 403 is a server issue - hopefully they will get it sorted as it is full of good information.

For anyone on the IPD desperate for a cuppa - Yorkshire Tea do a decaff and it isn't bad with lactose free milk and that is coming from someone who drinks 8 cups of builders tea a day.

Nice to meet you all BTW.

Hello TD - hope your head is better.

You'll be fine after a few days - drink water, warm with a squeeze of lemon if cold doesn't always appeal.

Thanks for the tip on Yorkshire Tea - I've been drinking Rooibos with a little bit of double cream, which I can also use in decaff coffee (there are some wonderful ones out there: Illy, Lavazza & others) and also in cooking.

I've just tried the forum again and now I get the Internet Explorer page headed "the page cannot be displayed", indicating that the site "may be experiencing difficulties". It looks like an improvement to me...

I wonder if it's crashed or something: there were loads of us. There must be a lot of pink puzzlement and panic out there.

In the meantime, warmest good wishes to all.

Hi, there are loads of us P2Ters out there, all desperate for a fix of the forum. Apparently there was an email yesterday saying that there was a from the people who run the forum, which was posted on http://tulipskitchen.blogspot.com :

Hi,

I'm afraid that we're experiencing technical issues with the hardware on
which the pig2twig website is running. We are working with the hosting
company to get this resolved as quickly as possible and please be
assured that we are doing all we can to get normal service resumed and
the issue is the website hosting rather than your local computer.

Best regards,
Tim

Some twiggers are hanging out on that blog, but this looks a good place to be as well!

Thanks Lisa: at least we know what's happening.

Couldn't get onto Tulip's site: I'm getting the explorer "page cannot be displayed". Anyway, will keep trying. I say again that I wish I had kept details of twiggers' sites/blogs! I feel so very stranded.

Thanks again Lisa
