I love cooking so would love to try the book. I am an NSPCC Committee member and we are doing a sponsored diet after Xmas so this would be a good thing to test drive Cheers Sarah Dawn. p.s we may do the diet across the nation for the NSPCC charity

Quoting: harrietaddison Email me on harriet.addison@thetimes.co.uk with your address if you have not already received your diet book, or would like to request one.
Just had a look on the thread this morning and noticed that several new members have expressed an interest in getting a diet book. Please view the quote from Harriet's message above.

Hi Helen,
A bit late, I'm afraid. The testers are already underway!
Sorry about that, and best of luck with your weight loss. If you look at the library (tab on the top of the page), there are a number of suggested diets on there. The best one is probably Amanda Ursell's Deadline Diet.
Good luck!

Harriet - although I didn't volunteer (can't exactly hand your diet book over to the hotel kitchen!) I think this was a great idea to involve real people in road-testing the books.
I often wonder just how valid some crits actually are - I think a lot are biased. One thing's for sure, THC members will not be afraid to say what they think! Can't wait

Aha - I've just had one of my good ideas - could The Times run a special offer in B&S to sell the books to THC members at a discounted price?

Well done Emm and JackieM for your crits in today's B&S. Emm I particularly like the fact that your Chinese diet advocates only gentle exercise

That made me titter too! Well done everyone though - I thought Body and Soul was great today - sat in bed with breakfast on a tray and watched the rain lash down whilst I read how you'd all got on. Interesting reading.

On the home page you can read some of the reviews of the diet books (i didn't see these in the paper as was away.) All very interesting - found this interesting in your review, Emm :
'the Chinese don't do sweet foods (sweet foods are related to the mouth and stomach, so if we put too much in our mouths, it ends up around our stomachs), I don't get those dips in blood sugar and huge cravings. '
Which is exactly where I've piled mine on over the years so hopefully my sugar abstinence will help. Thought this was very telling.
