I'm the Editorial Assistant at BodySoul. Hadn't done exercise in about 5 years before coming to work here, but have now been educated as to the error of my ways, and have turned into a proper little gym bunny.

The Times Body&Soul section wants volunteers to test the latest diet books. We will send you the book, but you must promise to follow the diet over the next month, and keep notes as to how easy and enjoyable it is, and how much weight you are losing . We will then interview you briefly over the phone, to find out how you found it and how much weight you lost in total. No cheating!
We will allocate the books on a first come, first served basis.
If you are interested, put a post on here, and I will be in touch.

A third year student who is a stone heavier than when she started uni...
I'm employing a combination of Weightwatchers and sporadic exercising to fix this little problem... All support gratefully received :) xx

I started my 'lifestyle change' on Jan 1, after weighing myself at our local Boots and being so disgusted with myself that I could not stand it.
I have just had my 48th Birthday and have decided that I want to be 'Fit and fifty' not 'Fat and fifty'.
My ultimate goal is to trek the Himalyas for my 50th Birthday.

After years of yo-yo dieting, I'm finally focussing on health and fitness rather than being a slave to the scales (though I'm still weighing myself once a week!)

Hi Harriet
I'd be really interested. Any advice is very welcome!
Thanks, Annie.

Have entered a mini triathlon on September 21st. Training was going well, till I pulled a calf muscle, it is improving by quite a bit. Only 2 weeks to go now. I will do it, I will be able to complete it. But this also where the self doubt creeps in.

I'll give it a go as long as you don't have to spend a fortune on buying food for it, and you can use every day basic foods. Most of the time I'm just cooking for myself as well. Any suggestions on healthy eating would be great.

Hi my name is Ruth, I am 45 years young and I live in Norfolk with my fiance Simon ( the clown ) and my 3 children, Oliver 19, Emily 17 and Mollie 15. I am not currently working as I was pensioned off early from the ambulance service with knee problems and am waiting for replacement surgery. I am also a qualified general and childrens nurse, since leaving the ambulance service I have gained nearly 6 stone and it has to come off, i also have recently packed up smoking. well I think thats probably enough for now!!!

Married with 2 children, Welsh, and I've made my target, today 24th July! The bigger struggle will be maintaining the healthy lifestyle of swimming, walking, cycling in conjunction with healthy eating, so I need the forums for encouragement.

Yes, I'd be interested too as long as there were some suitable recipes for veggies.

Piled on the pounds in my final year and during my SE Asia travels... started work and comfort ate some more. Took action in the New Year and reached target on 18.06.08! See Before and After Gallery for photos.
I've got into outdoor running now, and did the City Race for Life which was great fun and now looking for more races to do.... this coming from someone who has spent the past 25 years claiming she was physically unable to run!
Update Aug 17: reached a bit of a plateau but haven't really been trying as hard, especially with a new job. We'll see..

Definitely up for trying a new diet as long as it's nothing ridiculous!

Certainly will give me an excuse to try and do something correct for me to achieve my target; that and walk the dog on a daily basis.
Please include me (my superb wife and lovely dog) in.

If it isn't too late, I'll be a willing guinea pig. The "no cheating" rule is very appealling and will act as extra motivation to stick to it.

My work has done a sponsored slimathon and I was embarrassed into doing it, as I am a heffalump!!! Over the 6 weeks, I lost 17lbs. So I have set myself a new target of by my holiday to be 14 stone.
|
# Posted: 25 Jun 2008 14:01
If I am not too late, i would be willing to offer my services as a tester. Especially as I need the next level of impetus as my food is starting to become mundane, and that only leads to the bad stuff!!!!

If there are still some places left I would be interested in taking part. Especially as I am going to run a marathon in 4 months and need to start shedding the pounds!
