I took up yoga a couple of years ago. I absolutely loved it and found that it really worked at helping my body feel relaxed and especially my mind.
After a stressful day of teaching it was perfect.

I used to commit myself to 2 classes per week, each lasting 2 hours each. The problem is that I normally feel too knackered to go and have not been for 6 weeks or so.

Anyone else finding it hard to motivate themselves to attend classes?

Ruth,

You need get back into it again. The sooner the better. You've made the start by mentioning here.

I think the motivation is just needed to get you there. As you said once you went you found it very beneficial.

Do let us all know how you get on.

Thanks very much for these supportive comments.

And I hope you are enjoying your Easter break!

Yes, I will go back soon. Sometimes it feels easier to treat the stress with a large glass of wine don't you think?

My aim is to attend a class next tuesday night!

I did Iyengar yoga for 10 years, but now my back's bad I can't do the forward bends anymore - really miss it! I loved the Warrior pose - made me feel invincible!

I would love to do yoga, but I am a little worried that I wouldn't be able to manage some of the exercises. A few years back I broke my arm very badly, bending it back at the elbow completely the wrong direction, breacking the head of the radius and catastrophically tearing or stretching the tendons and ligaments. I had to have physiotherapy and, although they told me I wouldn't be able to fully straighten my arm ever again, I worked so hard with it that I managed to be able to.
I used to go to some great classes that focused on cardiac fitness but with a good quantity of upper body strength stuff thrown in. I liked this because I am tall, tend to shave to stoop over things such as desks and worktops and it really relaxed and strengthened my arms, shoulders and back. Since the accident, I can't 'lock' my elbow, so things like press ups or anything where I have to support my weight with my arms isn't possible. I also find that the damaged arm gets very sore quickly when I lift or carry weights, even shopping bags. When I use free weights, I have to stop when my damaged arm starts to feel it, which means I haven't really done enough to work out properly.
Will I struggle with yoga on these grounds, or will it be OK?

Hi there! I love doing yoga. I do an hour class as that seems to be enough for me. Two hours wow that's great. I find that I sleep better doing Yoga and I also do Yogalates which is Yoga and Pilates done togeather. Have a great day and be well.
