After being as good as gold, visiting gym, sticking to ww points, along comes parents evening week - long days + tiredness + everything else we have to do normally + cold weather = comfort eating!! not going to be too hard on myself, feel like i 'deserve' a few treats this week, is a matter of survival! would just love to know am not the only person/teacher who despite learning new good habits, needs the occasional treats, am sure i wont feel so deserving of treats when i weigh myself at the weekend .....

Why don't you use the spell check and let it do the hard work for you.

Tee hee - I've just left a post about using the spellcheck for one of the Times editors whose post was full of typos - naughty eh? Can't remember where it was now

Good lord, you're not my daughter's English teacher are you?

And another thing - why do we have parent/teacher evenings? I could understand Years 7, 11 and 13 perhaps, but the rest? I'd like to think the school would call me if there was a problem.

And yes we all deserve occasional treats - the problem is assessing 'occasional' and how many 'treats'?

Emm

PS My daughter says teachers paint a brighter picture to parents than to the children, so that they don't look bad, is there any truth in that?

I had parent's evening yesterday straight after school, so they kindly make us a buffet before we start. It's lovely food but unfortunately for me it's all high calorie food. I was however very good for once and only had 2 small pastries as I'd saved myself some risotto in the fridge. My poor children and husband seem to be a bit fed up of risotto, homemade soup, etc. that they got a Chinese Takeaway last night. Bad move - my husband waved a piece of prawn toast in front of me. How can you say no to that?? Still, I've still got my stash of chocs from Valentine's Day/Mother's Day saved up for after Lent. That'll be a tricky one - one chocolate a week the day after I do the weekly weigh!

Jaki

ps I certainly don't paint a brighter picture to parents - as a parent myself (7 and 11 year old) I would want it as it was.

pps Don't blame me for grammatical/spelling mistakes - I'm a Maths teacher!

Well then, my daughter must be doing better at Spanish than she thought and her teacher obviously does know something.
