The Times nutritionist Amanda Ursell is going to devise, along with fitness trainer, Matt Roberts, a diet for brides-to-be. What we at Body&Soul would like to know is what would be your perfect diet - and I am not referring to the chocolate and alcohol diet - there have to be some sacrifices, but hopefully not too many in order for you to reach your goal.
For instance would you prefer a two week intense diet, or one that is a little more drawn out over a month say?
Would you like to concentrate on a certain area of your body, e.g your arms, stomach or legs?
Would you like the diet to only include freshly-made food, or would you like to include ready-meals and sandwiches too?
Post your requests in this thread, and we will try and devise the ideal weight loss diet for you.

Emma, I feel really bad that no-one's talking to you about this. I'm not getting married this summer - unless The Times can come up with a rich hunk who likes plump blondes!
However, I am singing at a wedding today, so I may try and do some sneaky research for you!

i dont have a date for my wedding yet but its likely to be summer 2009, i would prefer a diet that is spread over months and is sustainable after the wedding.
my problem areas are my hips, thighs, and bum.
i would prefer a diet made from freshly made food, i really enjoy fruit and veg.
my problem is comfort eating and too many glasses of wine!!

It was a long time ago that I got married but I do remember the lead up being stressful - bearing this in mind does one have time/need for a diet? Indeed does anyone get married anymore?

well i am not getting married but am always trying to lose weight for special occasions - birthdays, parties etc
would like to see a 2 week diet - kind of like a kick start, but nothing too punishing! and veeno must be allowed in some moderation! but a diet fro the longer term would also be useful, would be great to have a diet that incorporates all the super foods that gillian mckeith raves about

I'm not getting married either but I would like to see a 2 week (ish) vegetarian weight loss plan as with most of the diets you see, the veggie options are quite boring.

Well thank you very much for all the posts so far, and Fiona imparticular for kickstarting the thread off. Seems the two week diet is the most popular, sometimes you need something short to motivate you to actually start losing weight, and then when you are finally doing it, it becomes a little easier. Starting though I think is definitely the hardest thing!!

think when I get married I;'d like to have a couple of months to safely lose a reasonable amount of weight - through health eating (healthy but convenient/quick to make) and a varied exercise programme that was structured to have max effect with minimum time (as I'd be pretty busy being BRIDEZILLA!)

As it is for brides to be, maybe an emphasis on foods that will improve skin/hair/nails as well. It'd be nice to know that you were going to look as good as you felt on the big day!
