hello
well after a lovely christmas I tried on my jeans and struggled to do them up. What to do? Buy the next size up or lose the weight? I felt that if i did buy the next size up that was it so having been a member of a gym I now have enroled with a personel trainer. She told me that my 2 glasses of wine that I had been having nearly every evening is roughly 600 cal. this does not include the crisps, the olives etc etc. T his was a real shock and I realised that my steady weight gain was due to this. I was doingclasses at the gym pilates/aquasize,trim and tone before talking to the personal trainer. She has recommended 40 mins on cross trainer at least once a week initially I thought oh no i struggle with 5 mins, but I have been doing this, I take my ipod and do it! She ex[plained that you have to get the heart rate up and get sweaty!! We had a session today and did boxing and weights. its funny but I now get on that cross trainer and do the 40 mins and yes its hard but i see other people get on the x trainer do 5 mins get off again without so much as a glow! Frustratingly I have not lost any weight but i have given up wine during the week and am going to the gym 4 times a week, so I am hoping that maybe next week i would have lost some weight. There is no magic bullet its just hard work and will power plus the desire to fit into those jeans!

Hi Michelle, firstly well done !! if you are getting to the gym regularly and listening to your PT, YOU WILL SEE RESULTS !! your overall fitness, strength, agility, flexibility will all improve and so will your body shape
dont get too hung up on weight loss, combine your gym work with healthy eating and you will be fine.

hi michelle
completely understand how you feel. a stressful job, my love of wine, olives, cheese etc has left me more overweight than i have been for ages!!
youve had a great start, well done! keep up the good work and you will def see results. giving up wine in the week is a tricky one tho isnt it?? have been spending a fortune on magazines to take my mind of it!! also thought about taking up knitting....
anyway, let us know how you get on and if you need any motivation, let us know

Well done Michelle! 40 mins on the cross trainer definitely deserves a pat on the back. You have inspired me to try and do 40 mins.

I went to the gym 4 times last week, each time doing at least 60 min cardiovascular work. I used 3 different machines each doing 20 mins. My weight loss this week was 2lb. I did feel a bit disappointed as I wanted it to be more, but sometimes these things take time and I have found from previous experience that the effects are often reflected in later weeks.

I need to keep focused on my end goal, but am finding it hard and definitely need some motivation.

I keep thinking, no pain, no gain! as I'm looking like a beetroot and sweating profusely at the gym.

Blimey, that's a brilliant result, 9 inches!!

That's the sort of inspiration we need. I'm going to the gym 4 times a week too and looking like a beetroot! Someone asked today at the end of a class how come they didn't REALLY sweat like Wendy (me) TOTALLY MORTIFIED!!!

BUT if I lose 9 inches I'll have the last laugh, hopefully.

good work everyone,
Wendy

Wow Michelle, I'm impressed at you doing 40 mins regularly. I thought I was doing well managing 20mins. But I have now taken inspiration from you and I did 40mins on Sunday as I too am finding my jeans a bit tight after xmas. Felt tired after 40mins but definately glowing a feeling chuffed with myself
