Popcorn isn't too bad as a snack and is quite healthy, provided it's not coated in butter, sugar or salt. I have a popcorn maker that doesn't require you to add any oil to the kernels. Trouble is, its quite bland without. I read somewhere before that Paprika is good. Anyone any suggestions on what to add to bring out the taste?

Aaaah, popcorn. Perfect low-cal snack. A tiny bit of salt really isn't going to make that much difference, as long as you don't go mad. Or.... some parmesan, with a little sprinkle of nutmeg? As it's a hard cheese, it's really low fat.
Cayenne pepper would give it a bit of a kick.

Once used popcorn when I didn't have any rice, but when I put curry in the middle it pushed a lot or the popcorn off the plates.

Ive switched from eating crisps to eating a packet of salt and vinegar popcorn instead when I really need something like that - you can buy an individual pack in the supermarkets - Im not sure if we are allowed to put brands on here but its a well known "diet" food brand - and the best of their products.

????? ?????

Product placement's absolutely OK Rhonda - go on - tell us what it is? If you check some of the other threads, you'll see we do like to share any good buys we come across.

... and me! I'm very accident prone and clueless at times! Take tripping over ladders in the dark! I often go to school with bruises and burns (from the cooker) as I'm not concentrating, dread to think what people must think!

I think this must be the Snack-a-Jack range - they do a few popcorn varieties, one of which is the salt and vinegar and if I remember rightly is only about 52 calories. Please remember that other popcorn type low fat snacks may be available, terms and conditions apply (does that get over any "product placement issues !).

They also do chocolate flavour, but much as I love chocolate, chocolate flavour popcorn just doesn't do it for me.

I have a hot air thingy for making your own. I usually just use a tad of salt - it's probably a lot less than they put in the manufactured ones, and most of it falls off anyway. I have to say I don't mind it plain either though.

Ah right its fine to use product names - I didnt want to get booted off immediately for breaking rules!!

It is the snack a jack ones, the sweet ones are actually full of more calories than a standard packet of crisps if I remember rightly, but the salt or salt and vinegar ones come in just the same size as a packet of crisps, last a lot longer (cos theres so many bits) and come in at under 50 cals each.

Sometimes an apple just doesnt do it!

Feel free to name whatever you want - whether it's positively or negatively. These forums are for you to share whatever information you want, and some brands are obviously far superior to others - we can only benefit from knowing which are good, and which are rubbish....

Oh I wish you hadn't said that - now I'll go looking for the chocolate ones
