Hi
Yes I am doing it, the booklet a couple of weeks ago and reality of what I signed up for dawned. HELP I have started exercising, gym during the week and walking at the weekend. Last week did about 12 miles but this weekend it is raining!!!!!. I know I do some in the rain just in case it is a wet evening but I will get wet so might chicken out and go to the gym.
How is your training going?

Have not even thought about decorating the bra, what ever I do has to cover the flabby middle; I have spares tyres.

Hi Rosie!

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one! 12 miles is fine at the moment if you look at the booklet and work backwards from the 17th May. I was lucky and got out in the nearly dry yesterday, but today its terrible! I did just over 12 miles and was fine, but then had to go shopping, and when I got out of the car I thought my legs weren't going to move. I'm already puzzling about the bra too - like you say something to cover up the wobbly bits! Theres lots of people doing the Edinburgh Moonwalk too, so have a look on their thread as well.

Hi Maggie
Yesterday was not snowing/raining or blowing a gale so there was no excuse. I walked about 14 miles, not too bad, but have a blister on the sole of my foot which is a blow. I am wearing the trainers I did a 10k race in with no problems so cannot understand why I have now got a problem with blisters. I think I will try much thicker socks and see what happens.
I carefully worked out a route with had a public toilet about half way around just in case only to find it was closed!!! so walked the second half a bit quicker.

I have been going to the gym, doing spinning classes and exercising every other day and have not lost an ounce. I have now decided my scales are wrong!

Maggy, the walk for life website are selling Moonwalk T shirts in various designs - some with a bra printed on. I'd say that would be ideal for covering up the wobbly bits, keeping vaguely warm, and still doing the bra thing! URL

Hi Rosie - you did better than me - snow and gales - so it was the treadmill and I was a bit dispirited, but better today - did 4 miles in my lunchhour! I'm off to Italy on Saturday and have three long walks planned. I've had a blister, but I've found the special bilster plasters from Scholl to be good, and its now ok. It might be cos you're walking rather than running they catch in a different place. On the subject of loos I walk in the country, and work out routes where convenient gaps in the are hedges are, but I was reduced last sunday to listening for traffic and then just going in a lay by a la Paula Radcliffe!! Hope they provide lots of loos for the Moonwalk.

Thanks Fiona I've have a look, but I may just go for it and let it wobble!! I've seen some of the videos and I think in the excitement it will be ok - just so long as no one photos me!!!

Work out your calorie intake. If you should be losing, then stick with the program. Eventually it will show on the scale. You are doing a goodly amount of exercise. Keep it up!

Interesting fact did you know muscle waeighs more than fat so whilst the scales may not say anything you are probably a lot healthier than when you started!

Hi
I got into the paper how exciting. Times on saturday, body and soul page 21, quoted my bit about exercising and not losing an ounce. Can I now call myself an author as I have words in print.... book signing next.
I have been to the gym this morning and done a spinning class; the teacher is a maniac but I feel so good afterwards - it is a mixture of smugness, virtue and the feeling you get when you stop hitting your head against a brick wall. But why do I look like a boiled lobster when I finish, others look warm but not bright pink like me. I am getting fitter as I can do the sprints for longer. It is just a pity the weather is not better so I can do a long walk; it must stop raining soon.
Can we do the moon walk in snorkle and flippers!!!

Hi Rosie

Missed that part of the Times Saturday I'm in Italy!!! Have doen one 10 mile walk and one 16 mile walk, but have a couple of lovely blisters too, so that may stop me a bit. I've always had trouble with looking like a lobster but now I'm over 50 I just blame it on hot flushes! Its just started raining here too but hopefully it will clear again, hope to get out Friday for another 10 miles as I'm doing all my training in one week!!!!

Hi Maggie
Hope you had a good time in Italy. I have been on holiday ( I am a teacher) so did 12 miles on Monday, 8 on wednesday and 13 on Friday. I really do feel much better and sleep like a log. We have a team of ten and groups of us have been out this week so we can motivate each other. Google do a map thing so you can work out a route and it will tell you how many miles it is. This way we have worked out a range of routes so we do not get bored. The weather on Friday was fantastic , we were down to T shirts ( last week it was anorak plus woolly hat).
I am beginning to feel that the distance is doable now. Plus belonging to a group means I cannot chicken out.
Hope your blisters are getting better

How are you doing Maggy? Well done with all your training - sounds as if you're doing really well.
I've had to call a halt to training for a bit as I've hurt my foot - maddening!
I would love to have a group to walk with!
Good luck to all doing the London Moonwalk - I'm doing the Edinburgh one with members form Ab Fab group

Rosie - thats really good. I usually walk near home and my husband knows all the mileages from cycling. In Italy I was just walking at my usual speed and assuming I'd done the miles - I seem to do 15 min miles whether I try hard or not!

Hi Sue, yes my trainings fine so far, blisters are ok, now have a different pair of socks to try - think it was the heat in Italy. Sorry to hear your foots poorly - hope its not serious, and at least you've got a bit longer than us London Moonwalkites. Take care

Maggy

Hope you completed this year's moonwalk. I walked in 2006, and 2007. In 2007 did both London and Edinburgh. AM now signed up for London 2009...
As to bras the brighter the better. The t shirt is just for fun not to walk in. The idea is to show off your bra. One tip though don't start off with a beige coloured one as it can look as if you have not put one on... I have the photos to prove it.
Good luck to those completing any more of Nina's challenges and see you all next year.
Maggy

the regular walking kinds stuck with me though, and I feel much fitter now for it!

There is another thread - Moonwalk 2009 - it migth be better if we all stick to the same one so we don't end up with two conversations going on...

Hi Maggy - it's called Moonwalk 2009 and it's under Ab Fab topics - I think you may have to join Ab Fab to be able to post on it.
