I must be the only one who finds the pedometer useful - if you tie it to the cats/dogs collar you can hear where they are (useful in the garden at night) and as I said previously battery fits nicely into hearing aid. Thanks Times.

Just rattling the thing I got to 10,000 in an hour and 10 minutes

Quoting: rosieb
I gave it a quick shake

I see - it's not really a pedometer after all.

So, Roger, 1hour and 10 minutes of shaking it burns the same number of calories as walking 10,000 steps. Was that slow shaking, or did you do it quickly like Rosie? Do you need to swap hands, or can you just shake with the one hand, while you do something else, like cooking the dinner?

This is fabulous - I don't even have to go outside now to exercise!

I also gave up on the free one and bought the Omron HJ-720ITC, about £30, brilliant. Goes in my pocket , counts steps as well as aerobic steps, miles, and calories (which I ignore) and has a 7 day memory. Best of all I've tried.

i went to boots and bought a really easy to operate version.

Could you tell us what kind you bought and how much it cost please, if you are still happy with it - and if it doesn't rattle. Seems like there are quite a few customers here!

Hello everyone,

If anyone is having problems with their pedometers (late or faulty) please email healthclub@thetimes.co.uk - with "Pedometer" in the subject. Our customer service team will try to resolve your queries.

Just to clarify, if you registered for the health club between 5th Jan and 11th Jan you would have been given the option to "opt-in" for your free pedometer. Everyone who did opt-in should have received theirs about two or three weeks ago now.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Just to re-iterate - only those registering for the health club between Jan 5 - 11 would have been elligible to receive the free pedometer.

Hope this clarifies things.

Well I've been rattling along with my pedometer, doing 10,000 stepts a day at the gym. It's been really hard work.
Today I got out an old one, and used them both at the same time, the old one counted twice as many steps. So have I been doing double.!!

Patricia, once I finally got my Times pedometer to go, I marched around for about 5 minutes with it on - and it registered something like 10 steps!

I wondered if it was because my spare tyre was cushioning my steps so they didn't register! If I were you, I'd stick to your old one - sounds more reliable!

Both my wife and I have tried the THC Pedometer , and although I could have the same problem as you,Fiona,my wife is a slim size 8/10 and it didn't work properly for her either.

I still haven't received my pedometer!

It has been 51 working days now!!!

I have sent numerous emails and had replies saying it's in the post and I will get it with 7 working days. Yeah right!

I don't appreciate being lied to!

Julia, there's a reply to your query from The Times above. Only people who joined THC during the first week qualified for pedometers. I think you joined too late.

Wouldn't worry - they don't work properly. If you really need a pedometer, just buy one!

I've thrown my free one away. All it was really good for was making me realise that a pedometer harnesses my naturally competetive nature. I like to go just that bit further each time which is a good thing.
I bought one from Amazon - it got good reviews and I really like it. The only downside is that it is in kilometers instead of miles but conversion is easy.

Omron Walking Style 2 pro pedometer. Easy to set up and doesn't click.
