My pedometer was pretty useless - noisy, no way of setting weight or stride length etc and also I kept finding it had reset to zero when I bent over!!
I do however find it useful to wear a pedometer as it makes me realise how little I often walk. So I guess i will have to buy one.

Well that seems to be that with the pedometers, mine is the same, I cant chage anything. Oh well it will do for now.
I am totally new to this, I signed up a month ago and decided to wait until the pedometer arrived before entering any info. I made a mistake on the weight tracker, a big one, and I cant find any way of correcting it. Can anyone help me with this please.
Also how can I post on this forum without using someone's existing post.
sorry to be so dumb

I can't set the stride on my pedometer to 55cms (60 seems to be the lowest value) and it tells me distance walked in miles - my doctor suggested 10,000 steps a day - how do I work that out in miles?

Got my pedometer today. I can't change any of the settings so I guess mine will be fiddled with for a bit longer and then get thrown in the bin.

Mine arrived after exactly one month, so there could be hope for others. I agree with most of the comments, mine zeros itself - so I just check it now and then and extrapolate and add up what I think it should be. I can't get the distance and calorie consumption bit to work and it does fall off when you go to the toilet.
I thought,at first it wasn't counting very well as I'd done 3,500 steps in the first 45 mins, but as I'd walked the dogs for a mile in that time I now think it's probably OK.

Pedometers doing well eh? Mine can count to 290 (if it counts at all) and then resets to 0!

Well this seems to be the best use offered up so far!

I think that the pedometers are rubbish. They reset all the time because the buttons stand proud from the casing. I have one I bought from my gym for £1 and the buttons are set into the casing so they do not reset every time you move. Mine has gone in the recycling!!!!

On the third day it disappeared, my pedometer fell off my waistband while out with the dogs. Been to the same place and walked roughly the same area twice since so I guess someone else may be having fun with it. I'm sure I'll live without it, at least I know I do more than the recommended 10,000 steps.

I received my pedometer a few days ago, I have to say it is not worth the packaging it was wrapped in.
After getting advice from a friend who 'knows about these things' we managed to get it going, but could not set the stride length.
Undeterred I set off this morning and counted (verbally) my steps to the paper shop................
Jenny = 47 steps
Pedometer = 108 steps!! Good for my ego but not for my weight!

Mine is completely hopeless, it turns it self off after a couple of minutes, the options do not work properly, taking everything into account it is completely useless.

I know this is a bit anoraky(sp) but has anyone got up to 99,999 on their Times pedometer and does it go back to 0. How long would it take to do this many steps?
ps Just rattling the thing I got to 10,000 in an hour and 10 minutes. Is this a record?

I think we should let The Times off on the whole pedometer thing - at least they tried and their hearts were in the right place.
The main thing is they set up this whole Times Health club thing to give us a kick up our flabby arses!

I hear what you are saying Imran and I agree that we should be grateful (and I am) to them for setting up the website, but I also feel that they should know that they have wasted a lot of money on poor equipment.
Carry on working that "flabby arse"!

Glad I'm not alone with the pedometer! I've worked out that for logging my exercise; I calculate approx 15 min for 1 mile at a brisk pace nearly equates to the correct calories for time and walking on the activity log - hard for the level of activity = 30 min @ hard is approx 200 cals burnt.
how geeky is that!

I had thought mine was switching off, but I've realised that screen was going to sleep while the pedometer was still counting. If I gave it a quick shake the screen came back on again and showed that I had been walking - the number of steps was higher than the last time the screen showed anything.
Until I'd realised this, I'd been thinking "stupid thing turning itself off" and pressed buttons to turn it ack on. Which then reset it.
Could this be the cause a few of the problems?!
Anyway it fell off me somewhere I think, so have now lost it.
Planning to invest in a better one anyway. Has anyone got a Brando pedometer that connects to your computer via a USB?? I think it looks quite good, but haven't read any reviews of it anywhere.... would really like to know if it's worth getting. it's quite cheap as well, there's a website that has it for 4.99.

I recommend the Omron Walking Style II Pro Pedometer. I've had one for almost a year now and I'm very impressed with it. It's a bit pricey but, as most of the Amazon reviews indicate, it's a gem!
