I noticed that from the beginning sam (shows how smart I am) and asked the question of the Times guys who promptly ignored it - I just changed my time zone to -1GMT not sure where that puts me geographically!

Hi, I have tried to change the name that appears on the screen when I go on group/forum. I dont want my full name to come up but want to use a user name. I have tried a suggestion by one of the forum users but it doesnt work so someone advised me to try this (both very helpful) I went to "about me" then to change starting weight and name. When I go to try to change my name the "full name" just comes up highlighted and doesnt allow me to change my name. Can someone please help!!!!!

That happened to me so what I did was put my initial of my surname and then I could update it okay. It seems to require two names or at least an initial of some sort.

This is a copy in answer to your question liz where you posted the same question (it's a matter of which you get to first!)
I changed my name and then wanted to change it again and wouldn't allow me to. No use posting comments on 'website errors' - very few of those comments have been answered. emailed Times and got some automated answer on how to change name, it was obvious no human had read it. Someone did reply again today with some questions specifically about the problem so I'm waiting for their advice. Will let you know what happens.
I also sent a message to one of the Times writers and still haven't heard - bit frustrating. We're all alone here in cyberspace!!!
Good luck
Emm
(you can see why I want to change name, thought it was funny at first!)

I also have a problem with my full name coming up because I live in a small village and could be easily tracked down from the informaton on this website, which makes me uneasy. Even having just initial of surname is a problem - but now it won't even let me make that change.
I did try to change name of village to county or area name, but the system will accept only place names on its Gazetteer database. And once a place name has been entered, it's not possible to leave it blank. So I've just chosen a place at random.
I am also finding the website EXCEEDINGLY slow. Although I can't get broadband where I live, the browser seems to be waiting for the website rather than taking time to download information. In the time it takes a single page to download here I can view about 10 pages on eBay!

I've also noticed it's slow connecting to the site.
If I ever get that reply from the Times I'll let you know.
So you don't live where you say you're from so locals won't be able to track you down, perhaps you could change your photo then if it means that much, there's more than one Jackie Wilson - I know a famous one, well it wouldn't be him cos he's dead but you know what I mean. Are you worth tracking down?? I haven't told anyone that I've joined the club - I too would feel uneasy, perhaps wouldn't open up as much, I feel I can say things, real things here that I couldn't to dearest and nearest - bizarre really, and no I'm not worth tracking down, well not until I'm 5.5 stone down.
Where ever you are, good luck
PS Just read that you weighed in (at the very beginning) at 10.5lbs - were you the first child? Do you have children and if so were they healthy weights?

Hi
Does anyone know how you can show half pounds on the weight tracking? Mine all seem to round up, which is a tiny bit depressing!

Is there any way of looking at you calories in a graph alone without the quality of the food eaten than day being added in and confusing things. I have ended up tracking my calories eaten in the track section which works fine but it seems silly to be adding them in twice each day. Also in the track section there is a dotted line drawn through the graph, I assume its the average value but there is no way of finding out what this number is. Finally a graph without numbers is a bit meaningless, without hovering over each dot you have no idea of calories, BMI or whatever you are tring to track. Is there any way of enabling the numbers on the y axis?
A few gripes but overall the website is excellent, I've been updating it everyday and my diet has improved.

I'm also a little concerned that my full name is displayed and I'm also a bit irritated by the exercise tracker - I'd like to be able to log a gym session as one whole activity. I do a minimum of three things at each visit and on some days I also have a short swim or a half-hour walk. My total activity is about an hour, but difficult to reflect accurately.
I find the site useful, despite my grumbles.

Hi Goesona Bit - not I was the second child (my older brother was a mere 10 lb at birth). And I don't have children. I was some 2 weeks late, though - at the time I was born they didn't do much about inducing birth.

PROBLEM ACCEPTING CONTACTS & MOTIVEES
Anybody else experienced problems with accepting contacts and agreeing to motivate people? Works fine for some people, but with others no matter what I do if I try to accept request or send them a message I get "CALLBACK ERROR:You are not authorized to send a message to this user"
We've even tried deleting each other as contacts and motivators/motivees, but get exactly same problem when try to start again.
The system won't even let me leave comments on the person's profile page. All I can do is to send person a water bottle and type my own message in it. The other person can communicate with me ok.

Snap Jackie - I have the same problem and like you we've deleted each other - actually in the other side of this problem Sue can't even delete me - I have emailed the site who sent an email addressed to someone called Suzanne Rose (?) - they can't even get the name of the person they are mailing right - anyway - apparently they are working on the problem - I emailed over the weekend and got the email on Monday - doesn't help you much but at least you know you aren't alone

Hi Sue - my colleague just sent you a message to test this out and it seemed to work. We're trying to recreate the error to see what we can do to fix it.
Could you confirm if you have any specific privacy settings via the About Me tab? Also, please could you confirm you accepted the initial contact request which would have been the first message you received?
Thanks!

A Mclean - I'm the otherside of the contact problem with Sue Reed - everytime I try to message her I get Call back and you are not authorised to send message - Sue is currently deleted as it keeps telling me there is a pending contact request outstanding - but can't accept it - either because I didn't receive it or Sue didn't get it

Quoting: amclean Hi Sue - my colleague just sent you a message to test this out and it seemed to work. We're trying to recreate the error to see what we can do to fix it.
Hi A Mclean. This is Jackie who is having similar problem to Sue/Sam (see above). I've successfully established about 7 or 8 contacts, and this problem has happened so far with only two. Your colleague(?) Jon Bon also contacted me yesterday, and again that worked fine.
One thing that may help is I am pretty certain that with both people I have been unable to establish contacts/motivator links with is is that I read the message and then read a later message BEFORE accepting or rejecting the contact. Then I went back to the message and when I tried to accept, got the error message. The person shows up on my profile page as a contact (or a motivator/motivee), but get same error message whenever try to send message. The only thing that gets through is a water bottle.
I've checked all my privacy settings on "About me" tabs. They are all set to Yes except for: "Allow non-members to see my page" and "Allow members to see my actual weight"

Hi
I've written about this before, but no-one seems to have taken any notice!
I'm trying to entre my weight which includes 1/2lb. It won't let me do this, despite letting me last week, so it only shows that I've lost 1/2lb rather than 1lb.
This is annoying and demotivatng - can you sort this out please website people?
Thanks!

Hi Bethany
Although it rounds your weight to the nearest pound after you've entered it, it shows exactly what you've lost. E.g. last week I put in xstones 9.5lbs and it rounded it up to xstones 10 lbs but showed I'd lost the extra 1/2 lb.
Today I put in x stones 8.75lbs (yes I have lost 3/4 of a pound this week!) and it's rounded it up to x stones 9lbs, but shows my total weight loss this week as 0.8 lbs.
The main thing is you know how well you're doing, so don't get worried about 1/2lb!

Hi Fiona
That's what I thought, but this week it wouldn't let me - everytime I tried to enter 10.5 it went red and wouldn't accept it. And now I can't work out how to amend old weights :-S

The 'Track Anything' graphs are a waste of time as they only show the past month. Any data entered before that time is still present but can't be looked at graphically which rather defeats the object of having graphs. Surely the idea would be to look at achievements from the start. I've e-mailed the Times on numerous occasions over this but only seem to get back automated replies or replies to questions I didn't ask.

Can nobody help me out with another problem I've been having that I described in a thread here? I use Firefox as my browser and the calorie sliders never work. This has stopped me from being able to use the site, so now every week my girlfriend gets a progress report saying I've lost zero pounds. Very useful. (I know I can remove her from my motivators but I hope to be able to use the site one day.)
Could you not add some kind of method of manual calorie input, such as a text box as an alternative to the sliders? I'm surprised I seem to be the only person who has this problem.

Object errors
Several of us in "50 Plus" group are having problems with sending messages. We key in message to one of our contacts and then click on "send" and it comes back "object error": nothing gets sent and our text is lost. Also get this when using "reply" to a message from our contacts. Doesn't happen every time send messages, but irratingly often. And once it happens, tends to happen three or four times consecutively. Fault appeared about last Thursday or Friday.
