Started my diet in late July. I have so far lost 2st but seem to have hit the wall and I am struggling to get the weight loss to continue. Hopefully this will give me the motivation!

The system wont accept my location. I can select UK but entering "Churchdown" or "Gloucester" shows a striped blue activity block and then nothing.
Also trying to "Reply" to your welcome message to send you the comment above gives an "Object doesnt support....." error

Hi there - I have the same problem. Also a question - where do I find what my ideal weight should be? Your "road-tester" mentions that you can do it in his article, but I can't find it............ Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi Phil...thanks for the feedback.
Location setup is being worked on by the tech team and will be live and running very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi Cathy, I suggest posting something in the forums for your fellow Times Health Club members and I'm sure you'll get some helpful feedback. At the moment the Times Health Club doesn't make a recommendation on your 'ideal weight'.
Good Luck!

There are many places that show "ideal" weight tables. From personal experience I was once told my ideal weight and although I achieved it I looked like a beanpole. This site http://www.caloriecounting.co.uk/resources/charts/ ideal.htm
will give you some idea but I believe you will know when you feel comfortable with yourself.

Hello
There's no such thing as an ideal weight really, though you can work out what a healthy weight for your height is using a BMI calculator. We'll try and get one up and running on the site soon, in the meantime try http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
If you come out as overweight, then try again using a lower weight until you get a BMI below 24.9. That would then be your ideal max weight. The lowest healthy BMI is 18.5

Just interested in getting back to my 'backpacking' weight and fitness. Middle age spread means I need to lose a few pounds and get heart healthy.

I seem to remember, wasn't there some controversy about whether BMI was an accurate indicator of healthy weight and height....?

I'm a 19 year old student. I have been overweight since I was about 9 years old and when I was 13/14 I went on a diet and lost 3 stone. However I got obsessive, going to the gym every day but barely eating 800 calories and then weighing myself religiously up to 10 times a day! When people reacted to me in the same way they had when I was fat I got disheartened and over time started taking comfort in food again. I have yo-yoed for the past 4 years, losing a stone here and there and then putting it back on. I have just joined a new gym and tennis club and am now determined to start living healthily.

I think people should focus more on body fat percentage. For example, if I was to tell you my friends weight and height, most people would assume she is fat, but actually she just has a large amount of muscle mass and is one of the slimmest, and healthiest people I know.

The trouble with BMI is that it doesn't take into account the fact that muscle is denser than fat - for example it indicates that most rugby players are obese!
It is also liable to distortion if you are a female with a large bust size. As a 5'0" female with a large chest, my BMI of 30+ would indicate obesity, yet my waist size is a 14 ... I count myself as overweight rather than obese, yet to achieve a BMI of less than 25 I'd have to lose 2 stone.
I think it's healthier to aim to drop a clothing size or two - and not to obsess about weight itself.

Planning on running (yet another) marathon later after a long break. Need some discipline in getting back into training as I want this to be a goodie. The marathon is in Italy to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first man to run the modern marathon distance - at the London Olympics in 1908. I like special events more than the overcrowded number crunchers! So I need to build strength and endurance after years of being idle!

At the risk of straying back onto topic - Web site errors. My wife tried to log on, but it won't allow her to use the same e-mail address as mine. Surely we are not the only family where we have one address for us all? I won't share my bank account with her, but an e-mail account is easier to share.
Back off topic, Grudfuttle, there are machines (very like bathroom scales) that measure Body fat. I believe it shoots a tiny current up one leg and down the other, and measures resistance or something that indicates whether you are made of fat or water. But once again, treat it with care, nothing is absolute.

Hi Roger,
Your login shouldn't be your email address. If you check your email you should see the username and password in your welcome email. If not, you can request one using the 'Forgot Password' link under www.timeshealth.co.uk/login.
I hope that helps.

No, we used different usernames and passwords, but when registering it also asked for a contact e-mail address, which it then rejected. I can only assume that it was because I'd already put the same address as my contact info.
Incidentally, I assumed that my username would be the thing that shows against my posts here, not my real name. Not that I'm shy or anything.

Hi Roger - your username is actually 'argie' as per your unique Times Health Club URL: http://argie.timeshealth.co.uk/ - if you run into any trouble just try requesting a new password. Thanks.

hi roger- must admit i assumed the same regarding user names. whilst i don't have anything to hide we are told to be careful about how much we divulge online and giving your full name and date of birth (if you have chosen to) might be a bit too much.
incidentally, not sure where times online is coming from but it's in a different time zone to london!!

Hi Sean,
Sorry about your photo issue. Could you try uploading a slightly smaller (<1mb) file? We have our tech team working on a way to allow larger pics but in the meantime that should be a good solution.
Thanks for your patience.

I believe the weighing machines in Boots stores will give you your BMI . I think it costs about 70p to use one.

I'd definately prefer to have my user name displayed.

I yo-yo dieted for 11 years only to end up half at pound heavier than when I first started! Diets don't work! Then when I was 35 I caught a nasty cold (?flu). I was unable to get out of bed and actually got quite scared. It made me realise how important my health was and decided to clean up my act. I quit drinking (alcohol) and stopped eating junk food and ready meals and the weight just fell off. After a couple of months I added exercise, starting off slowly and building up to where now I attend up to 7 classes a week and swim twice a week. My weight settled but then following some career turmoil and emotional upset I started to fall off the wagon. I still exercise and don't drink but sugary and fatty foods were on the increase, there's definitely somthing about those foods that actually make you feel more hungry, if you're in the business of selling them you're on to a winner! Unfortunately I'm one of those "all or nothing" people, if I have a biscuit, I finish the packet, that sort of thing. The result is that a stone has crept on over the last year or so and I don't want this to become a pattern. The Times Healthclub couldn't have come at a better time for me.

Can I ask is "Body Bump" listed in the list of activities a misspelling of "Body Pump" or a genuine exercise?

Probably it needs more than one days data to draw a graph? Give it a couple of days and then see it the problem resolves itself

Fit (ish) but overweight all my life, really. I'm not a fan of "diets" personally, but feel that lifestyle changes should long term result in a healthier me.
My goal is to drop a dress size and regularly do 3 hours of aerobic exercise a week. I currently do two hours a week of Body Combat (love it) plus daily dog walking.
I'm 46 , and an at-home mum of two teenagers.

Any info on the username/real name display issue? I've seen a few people comment on it, but no feedback as to how to change the settings?
Also, when registering, the email checker decided that my main email (which has a full stop in my name, before the @ symbol) was invalid. I used another to get around it.

My current/target weight appears not to be calculating properly, I enter my target weight at 10 stone 0 lb and it then resets to 24 stone. Also when i put in the original figures it appears to be adding rather than subtracting telling me I have 12 stone odd to put on rather than the 20lbs I want to lose. I wish it was this was round!

Hi Kate sounds like a weird error. Could you try changing your preferences in the About Me to show your weight in pounds then set your weight and then convert back into Stone? Also, you could try adjusting your starting weight on that page. Hope that helps.
