You know, it is worth logging on to this site just to see the unutterably sexy Giles Coren at the top of the page and sometimes a bit on the side, too (so to speak!).
I have watched the 'Supersizers go...' series and it is surprising how wrong the doctors often are in predicting the effects of the massively changed diets on the presenters.
HOWEVER, I digress. The sight of Giles in a range of dashing Period costume is more than enough to have me rivetted to the sofa for the duration. Sue Perkins is also very amusing, but a minor accompaniment to the main dish that is Giles.
Am I becoming a 'lady of a certain age', looking at men in a lecherous fashion? I'm sure I never did it before!

In the brief glimpses of Giles in this programme I do agree with you!

It's nothing to do with being 'a lady of a certain age'. I'm 24, and I do too....

I know what you mean Helen, Just yesterday I noticed his sideways glance (again) over his cup of coffee. And you know it worked I went and looked at the cost of having the Times delivered. (that's advertising for you!)
Yes he is good looking but to young for me but I must say his writing is very amusing too, (like many times writers/critics) so a good sense of humour I think!.
I bet he would be entertaining at dinner.

I might e-mail The Times and look into the cost of having GILES delivered!!
I am sure that he would be very amusing both during and after dinner.
He is so sarcastic, I love it! It is so untrue that it is the lowest form of wit. Well done, it elevates wit to a whole new creative and intellectual level! Giles has written some marvellously rude things in the most amazingly novel language! It is an art. FUNNY and SEXY!
Mind you, I am not too keen on Speedos. They leave so little to the imagination! You lot are obviously more lecherous than me!

You can leave the speedos, I like the suggestiveness of the pic as it already is...

There is nothing wrong in fancying Giles Coren, be you man or beast, Onslow!
However, talking in this deeply Americanised truck-speak can only lead to trouble.
Before you know it, some large, pot-bellied, bearded Yank in a checked shirt is going to be wanting to call you 'Rubber Duck' and send you messages about Bears in the Air.

They can talk all they want about 'Bears in the air', 'rubber ducks' and
and 'hammer down', just so long as they don't call me their 'Good Buddy'!!!!
LOL
Ruth is doing great! Consultant came by while I was there and manipulated her knee and had her move it about. He asked her, "Notice anything?" She got this amazed look on her face and said,"No crunching!!". At which point he cheered and gave her a high five!
Once the surgical pain has diminished, we are very hopeful! However he did caution her and remind her that she is a bit of an 'experiment', with no guarantees!
Thanks for asking and apologies to all for wandering off thread!
Simon xx
P.S. If you could see her surgeon,I think y'all would agree he is pretty gorgeous too!!

... now here's an idea! Giles is always looking for people to go out to lunch with him so he can review some restaurant or other for Saturday's magazine. Why don't we offer to have an Ab Fab get-together and he can take us ALL to lunch?
How about it Giles - can you cope with a bunch of big girls over lunch???

I think it might be time to see what this man is made of! He is always taking what he variously describes as 'floosies' or 'random poppets' or 'this week's strumpet' out to dinner at posh places. Time for a change!

Hey Girls especially Helen, Check out Giles in the small supplement. The Food lovers guide from saturdays paper. God love him he even looks sexy in glasses. Quite the country gent too.
Cheeky thing reckons with the credit crunch we are all going to budget and buy cheaper ready meals and all get fatter. (not all of us Giles)
He also talks about foraging which I have been doing for years. Now I'm gonna be fighting of the competiton for my sloes and blackberries.

Me too - I love Food for Free! (any self respecting hippy will remember that book from the 70s) - Am going to give everyone homemade goodies for Christmas like Mint and Apple Jelly, Chilli oil, green tomato chutney etc, I'm sick of buying 'things' that no-one particularly wants!

IT'S HERE! The sign that I asked for!
Giles is trying to send me subtle messages through his newspaper articles!
I was reading The Sunday Times and it is there, from Cutie Coren himself, in black and white!
STYLE magazine, p74 and I quote
"And I'll settle for a woman who can eat. A woman who doesn't poke her food around her plate and hide things under her knife and claim to have a thousand intolerances and allergies."
Well, that's the wheat intolerance and the calorie counting out of the window for me, then!
And it doesn't end there!
He also says,
"And don't give me 'career'. We (men) don't need a career to feel validated. We just want to feel boobs"
GREAT! I am a Double D cup woman with only 1 day's work in the last month! I am his perfect woman!
He also says,
" ...and yet I practically never get laid"
Get your coat, Giles-baby, YOU'VE PULLED!

Ha Ha Helen I beat you I'm a G Cup. It's a good job I'm happily married or you would have competition fighting over Giles.
I laughed out loud when reading this.
[i]"I want a woman who is prepared to admit that what she wants from a man is a big **** and a lot of money".
Ha Ha I'm the lucky one here then, we live comfortably and the other bit is taken care of too.
Having said all this did you notice Helen how most of the men would like a woman to eat and enjoy her food. But expect us to wear high high heels and look gorgeous just like the woman in the picture (of course we all look like this don't we) She looks like that Giles because SHE DOES NOT EAT.
I think I might be as funny as Giles too.
or so my friends tell me.

I forget to say.
Giles would be proud of me.
Yesterday I made my first ever, Proper SPANISH OMELETTE.
God it was lovely. Shared a little with friends at work and ate the rest myself. With a healthy Rocket Salad. (Olive Oil and Balsamico)

Oh, dear! Suddenly work has gone mad and I have a career again. NOT Giles' perfect woman after all.
Funnily enough, when I work I don't eat!
MNKB, I too find myself noted in social circles as a bit of a wit. Maybe Giles isn't as good at off-the-cuff humour, but needs time to compose such bon mots.
I'm sure he would approve of your cooking, but I think he may have a thing or two to say about your dog.
