I got back into 12 jeans (Next) but they're now too big and I have to wear a belt for the first time in a very long time.

Have you tried Matalans own make.. I can't find a high waist in 27 leg unless its a bootcut-28 leg. The ones I wear at the moment are an 8, can't wear a belt and still have to hitch them up. THERE IS NO WAY i AM THAT SIZE..

I think we'll all be off to Matalan if it drops you 2 sizes!!! I'm planning on going to the Next Sale (around 26th July?) so will have to go and try some stuff on beforehand so I know what size to get.

since the 8th of june this year i haven't touched or been near alcohol

Good for you Lisa - you'll find that makes a real difference. I've also given up alcohol except for very special occasions e.g. friend's wedding last weekend when I had 2 glasses of champagne. Nice to see you back on here again

I'm an M & S girl myself, but the sizes can be rather erratic! Have several pairs of trousers in both sizes 12 and 14 and both sizes can fit, be loose, or too tight! Am now wearing a size 10 jacket which fits fine, have a size 12 which is snug and a size 14 which is comfortable!
In March, when I started my healthy eating regime, I was wearing a size 16 jacket which I had managed to convince myself, was really a mistake i.e. it was only a size 14!
Wish I had taken a 'before' photo for the other forum, am so impressed by all the before and after shots, think they all look fantastic!

A week or so ago I got into a size 12 t-shirt (Sainsbury's Fairtrade) which is the first time ever! I was so chuffed.

Well done Jaki T. I wish I could be a size 12 t-shirt.

Alas although my bottom half is between 12 and 14 (depends who's clothes you buy) my top half just will not shrink.
Anyone know any tips for reducing Boobies. (my mum always said I had hers and my sisters share)

I'm not always a size 12 top, it depends on the make. I have got down from a 16 to a 14 though so am glad about that. I seem to have lost weight from my bust as some of my bras are too big now. I do have the M&S minimiser ones (as I don't like them!) and that compresses you a bit!!

You've changed from Bianca to Mother N now!! I recognised you by the swans!

Well done Jaki! By your photo, you only look about a size 10/12 - just a wee thing! You are doing really well and soon the holidays will be upon you and you will be into all your lovely summer clothes in much smaller sizes - enjoy!

Oh these are awful! My sister-in-law swears they just push your boobs round to the side so you can't keep your arms down straight!

LOL. I never find they fit properly. Doesn't matter what size I try the wiring never seems to sit properly under my boob.

Congrats to everyone who's dropped dress sizes! As a newbie (week 2) this thread is great. It shows that if you just stick with it inches and pounds will fall off.

Yes I finally worked out how to change some details. Bianca is my surname. First name Carol.
Swans are my favorite Birds. (they are beautiful, graceful and mate for life). Perhaps I am aspiring to be a swan. I've got the last bit.
My new car looks a bit swan like too.

I agree, I have never been able to get an M & S Bra to fit.
And why we are on the suject of Bra's why can't large sizes have pretty straps. Best fit for me is Fantasie and Freya.

My new car is The Fiat 500 in Pearl White. The roof is all glass in black, so it looks swan like.
Had to wait 4 months for the colour.

He/she (not sure which yet) is beautiful!!!

Oh I want me one of those. And in white too - my son assures me white is the new black (he'd also like me to have one of those, probably so he can nick the keys and drive off with it!)

Definitely a 'She' called Pearl!

My goal on joining THC in April was to get fitter and lose the kgs that have crept on... Well, some of the kgs have gone (3-4kgs), but it's the fitness I am pleased with.

I started a running programme, which I devised myself, with the help of some THC members to increase my mileage. And I put a battery in my Heart Rate Monitor. My aim is to run the Great South Run in October, 10miles. When I joined THC I was running about 4km 3 times a week (I thought it was more, but googlepedometer has shown me not).

My success is that I have run 157km in 8 weeks, a total of 98 miles. I did a 5.7km run in Week 8, 7 minutes faster than I did in Week 1. Last week I ran 11km in the same time as I ran 10km the week before.

I don't think I would have achieved half of this without the support of THC - particularly the Runnerbeans and AbFab. You have really been with me every step of the 157km!

What a really brilliant achievement Julia! Likewise you have all supported me on the Runnerbean group with great advice on running and for a non runner at the start I feel proud of what I have achieved so far. My aim is till to run 10K and take part in a race.

Well done Julia and Pippa with your running.

As posted elsewhere, I have now achieved 3 stone weight loss in just under 7 months. Only another 1 stone to go to my original target, but I shall probably continue beyond that and aim to get myself to a "normal" BMI for the first time in almost 30 years. And in addition to the pounds shed, my belt tells me I've lost 7 inches around the waist. Thanks THC - couldn't have done it alone.

That's really fabulous Jackie. Seven inches from the waist is (hold on let me do the maths) around 3 dress sizes! Blimey you deserve a shoping trip methinks.

Went on a mini one 10 days ago, but don't want to buy too much as I don't plan to stop here. At moment, waist and hips loss only amounts to two dress sizes - but have to admit some of trousers were uncomfortably tight when I started. And so far, not lost so much off bust (one size down there). I'm an inverted triangle shape...

Wow! 157 km, Julia, is really impressive - and didn't you even have a period during this time when you couldn't run because of your arm/shoulder injury? Your planning and colour coded spreadsheets have been a real boon to you, but even that is down to you.

It's great to hear that you have broken your 10 km barrier, Pippa. Now you can train specifically towards the run. I know there have been tips recently on the running thread about how to vary the runs and I'm sure these will put you in good stead for the 10 km, so you can start it with confidence and enjoy it.

Excellent news with your 3 stone loss, Jackie! I think it will vary from person to person, but a stone weight loss will be about a 'dress' or 'trouser/top' size, won't it? The thing is that most of us don't lose the weight equally over our bodies, so there's then a little bit of us somewhere that means the next size down is a bit tight. This is just me speculating - no research done on my part to back this up or disprove it.
Here's to the next one that you're now attacking.

I think it will vary from person to person

... and from shop to shop.

I've found a lot of trousers and skirts have quite pronounced waists and hips - well I don't have hips - or is it a waist I don't have? - but I've found that M&S low-waist jeans fit me as they actually come up to my waist (short-arse, long legs!).

I'm also convinced that "big-girl" shops like Evans actually make the clothes bigger so that a size 20 in there fits you but there's no way an M&S 20 goes anywhere near you!

I agree with your sizing theory Fiona - difference is M&S are shaped, Evans are redesigned tents from Millets!!
