Quoting: rons
Once it's written all I need is a publisher. Anyone at B&S have a contact in HarperCollins?
I hope they do flip up a contact... Because otherwise it's another project in itself! You will probably need a Literary Agent (very few publishers deal with writers directly, 'specially new ones). And to get one of those, it's a project - proposal documents, market analysis, profile of the reader you're aiming at... I can highly recommend the Writers and Artists Yearbook to get a handle on what it's about.
I have submitted submission documents (they vary according to what each agent wants to see) and draft chapters to 10 agencies. All come back no thanks... So, will do the same to the next 10 on the list. It's a fascinating, and daunting process. When do I give up? The Mother I've interviewed for the draft chapters has every faith in me that it will be published. I would love to see it out there. I have to keep going.
Linking back to SMD's "OMG" thread - I really want to put this book out there to help the families of children who've been sexually abused. A worthy cause, but unless the Agents think it can generate a profit, then it won't be selected...
So, any contacts gratefully received here too!
